- Effect: Highest energy efficiency (up to 30%+ fuel savings). The flue gas is almost pure CO₂, making it extremely easy to capture and store - a key enabler of zero-carbon combustion and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
3. Oxygen-Enhanced Combustion (Precision Oxygen Injection)
- Method: Instead of mixing oxygen with the bulk combustion air, small amounts of pure oxygen are precisely injected like a "shot" directly into the fuel or the flame root.
- Effect: Achieves stable, high-intensity flames with minimal oxygen usage. Ideal for burning low-grade fuels or applications requiring precise flame shape control.
4. Chemical Looping Combustion (Future Breakthrough)
- Method: Eliminates the need for air. Fuel reacts indirectly with an oxygen carrier (e.g., metal oxide particles) to obtain oxygen.
- Effect: Inherently produces pure CO₂ ready for sequestration. Theoretically ideal, but still in the R&D phase.
